Devils Garden Guide

Devils Garden: What to Expect + Trail Stats + Is It Worth It

Devils Garden is one of the longest maintained trails in Arches, but most people only see a small part of it.

The further you go, the more it turns into a real hike.

Quick Trail Facts

  • Distance: Up to 7.9 miles round trip (full loop)
  • Elevation Gain: ~1,000 ft
  • Time: 2 to 5 hours depending how far you go
  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (harder sections past Landscape Arch)

What It’s Actually Like

The trail starts easy and well maintained, leading to Landscape Arch, which is where a lot of people stop.

Beyond that, everything changes.

The trail becomes less defined, more rugged, and requires more attention. You’ll scramble over rock, follow cairns, and move through areas that feel a lot less crowded.

Each section feels like a decision point. Keep going, or turn around.

What You Need to Know

If you’re only going to Landscape Arch, it’s a short, easy hike.

If you go beyond that, be ready for route finding and uneven terrain.

Bring water. There’s very little shade.

And don’t rush it. The further sections take more time than expected.

Is It Worth It?

Yes, especially if you go past the main stopping point.

That’s where it starts to feel like an actual adventure instead of a quick stop.

If You’ve Done It

Most souvenirs just say “Arches.”

This one is about the trail itself.

If you’ve gone beyond the crowds in Devils Garden, you know what it took. That’s what this pin represents.
